The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

On the verge of losing her life, Nora discovered many other lives and finally the right one...

About the book
After experiencing the pick of grief Nora Seed decides to die. So she does. To her surprise / shock she neither ends up in heaven nor in hell. Instead she is welcomed by an old acquaintance in the midnight Library. The Midnight Library is a place that lies between death and life. Each book in the infinite shelves is a possible life that she could have lived provided she had made certain choices differently. She can pick up any life she wishes to live but is it that simple to choose the right one?

Every life is a result of a combination of choices. What Nora can decide is which choice to make and the further happenings will lead to a new life.

The book describes many aspects of life and the purpose of living. Definitely a must for all the lost souls out there.

About the characters
Nora, the protagonist. A person having a little less than a mediocre life. At least that's what she thinks. She has become numb to any other emotion except grief. She resembles most of us who seem to be lost in our own lives.

Mrs. Elms, a simple lady, a librarian. Nothing specific about this character but she made me realise something. That we might think we are insignificant but sometimes a single action done without awareness can become an important memory of somebody's life.

Ash, the surgeon, is a good person. A total green flag.

Dan, complicated. A definite red flag.

Huggo. I liked him. He was interesting.

Reading Journey
When I began reading it the end felt so predictable, what was interesting is how we reached the ending. Sometimes the journey is richer than the destination…

I never made any accounts while in the process of reading. The book was interesting throughout and it was a continuous read for me.

My belief that the book finds its reader at the right time is getting strengthened with every book I read. First I saw this book on an insta post. I went through the review and loved it. I was curious and so I shared the post with my sister. Within a week it so happened that she was ordering some books. She already had added 3 books and she was searching for one more. She asked me whether she should order The Midnight Library. And I said yes. And the book was here.

So I ditched my current book and begane with this one. A much needed book.

The story explores various theories of life. The purpose of life, the gist, the significance, ets. Through Nora's travels into her lives the reader gets the answers.

Again this book is not ohh omg. It's a sweet read. A peaceful read. And what is most important is to completely absorb each chapter. They are very small chapters.

An awesome book.
