War Of Lanka by Amish Tripathi

"Re-imagining Ramayan in a technologically advanced era"

About the Book
Ramachandra series is the retelling of Ramayana written by Amish Tripathi. The series comprises four books "the Scion of Ikshvaku", "Sita: the warrior of Mithila", "Ravan: the enemy of Aryavarta", "The War Of Lanka" and to be continued.

The first three books narrate the story from the birth of the respective characters till the abduction of lady Sita. This book is the further story from the abduction of lady Sita till the end of the war.

About the characters
Ram: the man of principles. A king. I have always seen lord Ram as the perfect king. I found all those qualities in Amish's descriptions too.

Sita: This character is different from the common idea of lady Sita's character. She is fierce. An able leader. The prime minister of Mithila.

Ravan: the villain of the tale as many say. Here you get to see an additional aspect of his personality. It's up to the readers to quote him as good or bad. But i really enjoyed reading this multilayered character.

Bharat: this book made me fall in love with Bharat again. I really loved his personality. A total green flag. A strategic warrior, emotionally understanding, polite and an artist. Hopelessly romantic but at the same time rational thinker. A supper cool personality.

Shatrughan: Usually unnoticed character of Ramaya, Amish has successfully described this character's intelligence. No spoilers, read it in the book. He is smart.

Hanuman: the devoty. A description of true strength. Hanuman ji is a perfect description of mental and physical strength. That's the word. For me he is a personification of the word strength.

Indrajit: I had an image of indrajit in mind after reading Kevin missal's Meghnad. So this book was like the enhancement of his personality.

What i liked
I love Amish's character building and the personalities that he creates. There is so much to know about these characters. It's as if these characters talk to you. You can experience their emotions. As the book proceeds even you accompany them in their journey.

The second thing I loved is the unexpected conversations between unexpected characters. Like really Sita and Ravan having an intellectual conversation. Just Wow.

The bonding between the four brothers is amazing. They work like a team. They are my new favourite four. All of their scenes with each other are written so well.

The connection of the story with Meluha. The Shiva Trilogy was a great success. I loved it too. While reading War of Lanka reading these sentences that gave a hint of the connection between these two stories were amazing. It's a very successful effort in creating Amish's universe.

Overall it's an amazing read. Might get slow in the middle but it grabs your full attention at the end. It's an emotional ride in the end. Nail biting scenes. Beautiful.

My Reading Journey
Finally finished it and satisfyingly turned the last page. And eagerly waiting for the next one.

With lots of breaks in between i got to the last page. No definite reason to ditch it in the middle. I guess I was not prepared then to fully enjoy this piece of art. I am happy to have read it at the right time…

Reading Updates

SAT08MAR2023

Taking a break from Lanka. Sort of lost a connect in between. Maybe I am not ready yet to absorb what's ahead in the book. And I won't force finishing it by skipping certain paragraphs. So taking a pause. I'll update soon.

Whenever a character dies in a book it's hard to read for a while. Along the journey you get connected with the characters and the realisation that those characters won't accompany you in further pages feels bad.
A good thing though you can anytime go back and read them.

Ohk… I am still fascinated with Ravan and Sita's conversation. Ahaha I am enjoying it. And today I found a new great thing. A connection with the Shiva trilogy.

I like reading such stories that are interlinked. That feels amazing. The feeling when you read something and you feel this dejau. Like I have read this somewhere. And the moment of magic when you realise where. Enjoying this book.
